We remember and honor Andrew Goodman, James Earl Chaney, and Michael Schwerner on this tragic anniversary. Sixty years ago today, these three men—one of history’s strongest symbols of the Black-Jewish Coalition—were murdered by the Ku Klux Klan for registering Black Americans to vote during Freedom Summer. Today, The Andrew Goodman Foundation exists to live their legacies and ensure their heroic advocacy was not in vain. We believe that the movement of young people that propelled Freedom Summer
